5 model home design ideas we love
The beautifully decorated model homes at Hollyhock are filled with inspiring ideas for architectural features, indoor/outdoor living areas, and even bold accent walls. Here are five of our favorites, with more to come as we continue this series.
Showcasing new homes priced from the high $300,000s to the $600,000s, the beautifully decorated model homes in Hollyhock are filled with creative and inspiring design ideas. Here are five of our favorites.
Beam me up. The ceiling beam in the family room of Trophy Signature’s Plaza model home is a small but powerful design detail. This dark wood beam provides a focal point for the vaulted cathedral ceiling, without detracting from its lofty, airy volume. Amid this crisp white interior, the beam complements the hardwood floors and the wood details of the furnishings.
Random elegance. Random tile patterns are all the rage, and the kitchen in Landon’s showcase home features a beautiful tile detail behind the downdraft hood vent. With its varied natural tones, this tile accent is a perfect accent amid the white cabinets and walls. We also love how the dark paint on the island interplays with the light countertops and cabinets.
Ceiling contrast. In design as in drama, setting up a contrast is a guaranteed way to generate interest. The master bedroom ceiling in Drees’ Marigold model home shows how to create an elegant contrast in color, texture and style. The strong, simple lines of the wood beams are pretty much the opposite of the ornate chandelier light fixture. The rich dark color of the beams contrasts with the cool white ceiling.
Walls that say something. Walls can be canvases for fun and inspiring wordplay, especially in secondary bedrooms and upstairs living spaces like the gameroom and media room. Highland’s Plan 248 model home offers several examples of creative wordplay, such as this Peter Pan bedroom on the second floor. This model also has a dog lover’s bedroom and another bedroom for a young sports aficionado. In the guest bedroom, a whitewashed shiplap accent wall says a lot without any words.
Pocket of convenience. Another feature we love in Drees’ Marigold model is this pocket office near off the kitchen. Compared to a traditional home office, it may be small in size, but it’s big in function and convenience. With its built-in desk and cabinetry matching the colors and finishes of the kitchen, this pocket office is beautiful as well as productive.
