Four spectacular July 4 events to celebrate near Hollyhock
This year, July 4 celebrations are back, and since Independence Day lands on a Sunday, we can look forward to a long weekend of spectacular fireworks, live music and family festivities, all close to our location offering new homes in Frisco and near Prosper.
Here are our top four July 4th picks close to home at Hollyhock.
Frisco Freedom Fest
The annual Frisco Freedom Fest includes so many fun activities, it stretches over two days, July 3-4.
On Saturday, highlights include the Hotter’n Firecrackers 5K & Glow Run, held in the evening. Runners will dash through Frisco Square sporting their brightest flashing LED lights and fluorescent gear. The annual Frisco Dachshund Dash also takes place at night, with proceeds benefiting the Collin County Animal Shelter. The evening begins with a spirited Cornhole Tournament.
Sunday, July 4 is the big day, with activities beginning at 4 p.m. There’ll be a children’s expo, a classic car show, a community stage showcasing local Frisco performers, and featured headliner entertainers including the Jordan Kahn Band and the Dallas Cowboys’ high-energy dance team, Rhythm & Blue.
The Hometown Heroes exhibit will offer a chance to meet members of the Frisco fire and police departments and climb aboard a vintage 1940 Frisco fire truck. Foodies will love the Taste of Frisco zone, featuring an array of vendors offering everything from pizza and burgers, to ice cream and kettle corn.
The evening ends with a Fireworks Extravaganza at about 9:45, following the conclusion of the FC Dallas soccer game.
Prosper’s Pride in the Sky
On Saturday, July 3, Prosper’s eighth annual Pride in the Sky event at Frontier Park will celebrate America from 6-10 p.m. with live music, a charity softball game, a classic car show and a mouth-watering selection of food vendors.
There’ll be three huge Kid Zones where the young ones can enjoy inflatables, rides, games and other fun activities. The Main Stage will feature live music, with additional festivities to include a Posting of the Flags and, of course, a spectacular fireworks finale. It is by far Prosper’s largest community event of the year.
McKinney’s Red, White and BOOM!
Also on July 3, McKinney’s Red, White and BOOM! event kicks off in downtown with a hometown parade and a classic car, truck and cycle show. Following these festivities, visitors can explore the many dining, shopping and entertainment options that McKinney’s historic downtown has to offer.
In the evening, the celebration resumes at the McKinney Soccer Complex with music, food, kids’ activities, a concert, and a fireworks display as the grand finale.
Allen is First to the Fourth
Allen takes pride in being “First to the Fourth,” holding its big Independence Day event, the Market Street Allen USA Celebration, in late June. This year, the date is Saturday, June 26. That’s fine with us, because who’s not for more fireworks and live music?
The festivities take place from 7-10 p.m. at Allen’s Celebration Park. It begins with live music by Eli Mosley, followed by a military salute by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and the national anthem performed by Freddie Jones.
That’s followed by live music from Emerald City Band and a grand fireworks finale at 9:30 with dazzling ground effects that can only be experienced onsite at Celebration Park. There’ll also be a Food Zone with a delicious array of vendors.
